D-Day Museum and Overlord Embroidery

The D-Day Museum is now undergoing a complete refurbishment and is not open to the public. This is part of our exciting £4.9 million Transforming the D-Day Museum project, assisted by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Read more about this exciting project here. The Museum will re-open in spring 2018, with completely new displays about D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, told through the stories of those who took part.

Portsmouth Visitor Information
The D-Day Museum and the Visitor Information Centre are currently not open to the public due to refurbishment. Visitor Information can be found at Portsmouth Museum (open Tuesday-Sunday, plus Bank Holidays).

Please note, the Museum Cafe will be serving drinks and cakes only between 10:30-12 and 1-4 on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th October. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Portsmouth Museum and Cumberland House Natural History Museum will be closed all day on Tuesday 21 November to enable essential staff training. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Portsmouth Visitor Information
Our friendly team will help you plan your visit, with information and lots of suggestions on accommodation, attractions, entertainment and events. As well as discounted tickets for attractions we also sell tickets for local events and entertainment including no fee bookings for the Kings Theatre in Southsea. We are also agents for Lucketts coach trips and holidays. Coach and theatre bookings must be made in person. For more information, click here to go to the Visit Portsmouth website.

Charles Dickens Birthplace

Open Friday 31st March - Sunday 1st October 2017, Friday - Sunday only, 10am - 5.30pm.
Last entry to Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum 30 minutes before closing time.

Southsea Castle

Open Tuesday 21st March - Sunday 29th October 2017, Tuesday - Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays, 10.00am - 5.00pm. Closed on Mondays (except for Bank Holidays).
The Courtyard Cafe (located inside the Castle) is open throughout the year: click here for more information. There is no access to the rest of the Castle outside the Castle's normal opening times.

Last entry to Southsea Castle 30 minutes before closing time.

Natural History Museum at Cumberland House

Phase one of the new Butterfly House project at Cumberland House Natural History Museum is complete and the Museum has re-opened. A new ramp is being installed to improve access for everyone to the building.

Eastney Beam Engine House

The Beam Engine House has a number of open days throughout the year. Please see our What's On page for confirmation of these openings and any special events that may be taking place. To find out more about the Beam Engine House, click here.

This year, the Beam Engine House will be open on:

October 28-29
November 25-26

Please note, the engines will not be in steam.
